thank you for the words of encouragement. i do feel like i need to play catch-up, but that's not what's best for him and i would never do that. i just want him to be fat and content (not obese but you know what i mean! lol). i see photos of these big, long, beautiful corn snakes, and i want that for him! but it's going to take time, and i am impatient. :P
i'm just happy he's with me now; he is amazing. the decision to take him in is one i will NEVER regret. :)

what's funny is, after he settles from the glorious burst of power that is his wrap, he immediately starts chomping down; there is no "kill." like, if i fed live, this would be horrible!!!
he's so much fun. :aww:

Yeah one of my corns just grabs the f/t and start chowing, doesn't even give me a coil anymore. I've raised her from a tiny baby and she's 16yrs now, she finally realized she didn't have to coil the f/t only in the last 4 or so years! My king snake figured it out after about the 5th feeding.
I've had baby corns that I fed live mouse pinks (picky starters) that just ate them live, didn't coil or kill. Was rather sad to see.

thank you. :aww:
Corny likes to "hunt" when i present him food. he tries to sneak up on the feeder sometimes and it just cracks me up seeing him cruising underneath all his fake plants. i purposefully dangle the feeder on the opposite side of the enclosure from him so i can watch him do it. :D
of course if i had to i would, but i hope i never have to feed live to any Colubrids. it is pretty sad, but fish gotta swim and snakes gotta eat.

He'll get there! Also, that looks like a fat and happy face with a mouse to me. :)

what app did u use to make the gif's?
cool gif's. my bb Corn i can basically spoon feed. my bigger one is like 400grams now and will hunt and wrap half the time. but he sometimes still gets lazy and it basically be spoonfed right off of a tong, no strike. lol

zoey is a good girl, too.
(if you're worried about snake + cat: she is very old and just wants to nap. i do not recommend cat + snake to anyone as it is not safe for all involved)

This made me think of the other day when I brought home my first live fuzzy for feeding. I walked inside, put everything down that was in my hands (including the brown paper bag that contained said live fuzzy rat) and walked out to the garage to drop something off and came back inside to both my cats inches away from the bag staring at it intently! hahahaha. woops!

i'm happy he's doing well, too. i just bought him new hides because he's finally outgrown his original ones!!! i should post a picture of his 20gal enclosure.
i'd love to add another Colubrid waaaaay down the road; they're amazing animals and such a different experience than beeps.

Totally! My new guy lives in my office. The only time the door is open is when I’m in there too. I had the Enclosure in there for over a month getting everything setup, and dialing in temps and humidity before I brought my new little guy home. Good thing is the cats are now “over” this new piece of furniture, but I will never trust them ;)
Thankfully, I only left out the bag with the feeder fuzzy in it, lol. Tyrion did not leave my hands (in his deli cup apartment) until he was placed in his new home ;)
But I agree 100%, can’t trust cats!

Re: Corny, my adopted corn snake
i tried to have a photoshoot with Corny but he's a horrible model and i only got one non-blurry photo lol. ): at least it's a nice portrait.
gotta up the shutter speed next time!!!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...05b3847c93.jpg

Re: Corny, my adopted corn snake
Nice head shot!
Yeah, chuck my baby ball is a horrible model also. He likes to ball up in defense whenever he is out, or he just squirms around.
Faster shutter speed makes sense, might try that.

Just use the old photographer's trick ...
You pick the background spot on the table -ideally dark or black card / plastic / glass .... or whatever ..
Have a suitably sized box / food mixing bowl ready and place it over the top of your snake ... you can put the bowl / box down and carefully feed the snake underneath .You or someone may have to hold the cover down ...
Leave it be for 5 minutes maybe less but don't take your eyes off the snake / bowl .
Have your camera all set up - ideally on a tripod ..
Take the cover off and the snake will usually be curled up nicely ( especially if you use a bowl ) . They generally stay still for a minute or so for some peculiar reason ...

All good points!
I have been doing macro photography. Good luck with that! Such a small focal range. I can get pictures of Figment close up, with the basic lens (18-55mm) and a good shutter speed. However, macro, no way. I need help. Katie is going to have to try to keep him still!
Frank kept still and Behira kept still. Great macro shots! Figment; not so much. The geckos want to roam too. As soon as I get it focused, they move, every time! I imagine Shayna would do okay as well, but she just started eating again, so I am basically leaving her alone, until she has a few more meals in her.
Anyway, thanks Zincubus!

It's worth a try with lizards as well ...
They seem to go into 'paws' mode :)
Sorry couldn't resist it :)

@ 343g!
he's still eating 1 L mouse/week. it leaves a noticeable lump but he's cruising by day 5 or 6. he might just be a glutton.

I agree, Tttaylorrr, it totally seems like a bump in the road and that's all. He's seriously getting some girth on him and looking really good!
I am not jinxing it and saying you are out of the woods, however, it does look like you can start to see the light entering the forrest.
I couldn't be happier. Keep breathing and relaxing with each feeding; he's made incredible progress in a short amount of time and that's wonderful.
-
Yay! More good news!! Keep it up, Corny and nice work, Taylor!!! :gj:
It's definitely sounding flukey to me too.

No stopping Corny now- :gj:

Re: Corny, my adopted corn snake
Corny finally got an upgrade: a 40gal!
my sister and bro-in-law got me his new hide and a bag of Aspen bedding for xmas, so i finally put them to use!!!
Corny was stone-still for about an hour after putting him in, but after that he was cruuuuusing along. he seems to LOVE the extra space; he's such a climber!!!

Re: Corny, my adopted corn snake
I love it, lucky snake! Is that a shower or curtain rod for the perch? I really need to make a visit to a hardware store. I can't wait for Mushu to gain some size. He's finally started eating again every week after basically eating maybe once a month over the winter. Which is crazy because he's still a tiny noodle.
