First, you having a child and a degree to teach preschool doesn't even come close to you being able to judge anyone on being unfit to raise a child. Not to mention that's just a terrible thing to say to someone, especially when you're judging them based on less than a handful of forum posts.

He lives with his parents and can't go get food for it, he IS incapable of taking care of pets. Nothing needs to be implied, he admitted to that.

You can personally interpret all you want, but he didn't ask for advice, he asked how long he could enjoy his snakes until they die of starvation. And the parents aren't forbidding anything. All the kid said was they refuse to take him to the store. He said he could walk, there are buses, he could get a bicycle.

I won't go into details, but it's not difficult to find out where he bought the reptile from. I'd assume that person that said it was resolved called them up and explained the situation.

I would maybe take PM inquiries if folks in your area can help you out, but if my kid went to a forum to try to accuse me of animal neglect because he broke one of my rules, and then published his full name and city and state, you would have a lot more than snakes to worry about.
Ahem. Just sayin'. Good luck, and please don't continue to subject any more innocent animals to this situation.
Well said,
The idea of putting his parents into this situation is totally ludicrous .
He broke the rule , he needs to fix it himself.
Just rehome one of the snakes if that would settle it or you could possibly find them all gone when you are not around.
Like others here have mentioned if you live under someone else roof , you follow there rules.

Perhaps you should have read the post better. It said they refused to take him back to the pet store. It did not say they were forbidding the feeding of the snakes. Perhaps, you also failed to read where he said he would be watching his snakes starve to death, instead of asking how to rehome them? In fact, he never even asked for any advice on how to GET food for them, but instead asked how long it would take for them to starve. Which part of "I have to watch my pets starve" implies in ANY way that the OP is capable of caring for the pets?
I suggest you really start reading things carefully, especially if you are going into education.

1st off, I would like to publicly thank those that responded to this without being crude and childish.
That being said.......
Adult child living at home under his PARENTS roof and BREAKING the rules they set for the home I'm sure they pay for........ If you want to teach children then you may want to learn how to red and comprehend the text before you.
BTW, anyone an also lay, stand or sit and make a child so having a daughter doesn't make you special. Seeing the actions of that child in the next 14 years can either show you where you went wrong or make you special, until then you wont know.

Re: i have to watch my snakes starve as punishment
I just wanted to say that this altercation was resolved. I am extremely sorry I did not mean for this to get out of hand. My animals are fine and fed. I just went to the store today and got food. The problem is resolved. :)

Re: i have to watch my snakes starve as punishment
After reading some of the messages in crying. I love my animals and I'm sorry this got out of hand. My animals are completely fed and healthy. This was after an argument with my parents when I posted.

Back in the day my dads rabbit knocked over his water bowl and my grandfather (who is long since dead) got a gun and killed the rabbit in front of my dad for him not giving the rabbit water (even though that rabbit had water, he just knocked it over is all.)
Edit: Oh yeah I forgot the best part, my dad had to clean up the remains of the rabbit after it got obliterated with the shotgun

That's exactly what a lot of other people have said about other people in this thread but you pick this guy out?

You took the post too literally, sometimes you need to read what isn't said on the internet to get a persons proper tone. I post on the Blizzard gaming forums and deal with younger kids and a lot of people (adults included) can phrase things pretty badly and mean an entirely different meaning.
For example:
How long can I watch them starve could easily mean... how long do I have to come up with a plan?
It could also be he was asking for help indirectly and just really worried about his snakes (after all being panicked about the welfare of your snakes might make you write incoherently.)

Yes I was very scared but my animals are fine. I worked out a deal with my parents and they are all fed. I just got back and fed them today. I'm sorry for all the commotion I have caused it was completely unintentional and in no way are my parents bad or am I incompetent to care for my animals. I am extremely sorry.

I figured it was something like this. (Also glad to hear your snakes are doing fine!)
I hope you can enjoy them for many years to come! :D

Re: i have to watch my snakes starve as punishment
[QUOTE=O'Mathghamhna;2441618]There are a few things seriously wrong with this post, but I'll bite anyway:
First of all, all we know is your side of the story. It could be your parents said you aren't allowed to go back to the pet store because you irresponsibly snuck another mouth to feed into the house, despite not having the means to feed that mouth. Your parents may think snakes can eat rabbit food, who knows. I seriously doubt if they are ok with 3 snakes in the house, a 4th would make them want to just starve the whole lot to punish *you*. Doesn't add up.
Second, if you think your parents are pissed for sneaking another snake home, imagine how pissed they will be to find rodents (plural!) in their home? Have you ever even bred rodents before? Probably not, so again, you would be taking on much more responsibility than you are capable of handling, and at the expense of losing what trust you have left with your parents.
Third, you need to realize that the problem in this situation is not your parents. It's you. Your parents were fine with their kid keeping three snakes in their home, which is more than I can say for many grown adult roommates. Judging by your post, you don't drive which means you're either too young or too broke (or maybe disabled?), in which case you owe the care of your pets to your parents, who give you the funding for their food. The deal was that you uphold a simple rule: no more pets (and for a teenager, 3 snakes is PLENTY, so that's not outrageous). You broke that rule, so now you must suffer the consequences. Don't be dramatic and make it seem like your parents are snatching knots in the snakes' necks. If you need to get off your hiney and go buy food for the animals you took into your possession, get walking.
Fourth, for the love of God, you've already posted your full name here (if that's even your name. I'm really hoping you're just a troll), please don't open yourself up to criminal activity by also publishing your city and state. I would maybe take PM inquiries if folks in your area can help you out, but if my kid went to a forum to try to accuse me of animal neglect because he broke one of my rules, and then published his full name and city and state, you would have a lot more than snakes to worry about.

well ill I am very appreciative of your somehwere kind words my anaimals are fine. I have resolved the problem and just fed my animals today! My animals have never gone more than a week without being offered food, I can't say they always take it but I was NOT accusing my parents of neglect. I am completely capable of taking care of my animals and am fully aware of the danger of what I have done. I am extremely sorry for the miscommunication, the original post was meant to come across as asking for a estimate of how long I have until I need to feed them again.
-
Well I'm glad everything is worked out now. :)

This is exactly what I meant and why I don't text people. All I was saying was don't jump to conclusions until all the questions are answered. Second, it's been revealed by the OP that it was an after-fight lash post as well. Saying something like "how long do I have" in that seemingly horrifying way was more than likely a quickly thought out phrasing for, like the quoted poster said, "how long do I have for a plan".
-
Re: i have to watch my snakes starve as punishment
Sorry.. but, "I just want to know how long I have to enjoy them until they pass away" does not in any way imply the poster wanted to know how long they had to figure out a plan. Nope..
Regardless, glad things worked out for you.

Not sure what kind of person you think I am but if I didn't have any plans of trying to help them I wouldn't be in a forum asking for help.
-
Re: i have to watch my snakes starve as punishment
Did I say you didn't? No. I am saying that THIS exact sentence, "I just want to know how long I have to enjoy them until they pass away," does NOT imply you were looking for help. It was pretty straightforward, and had you had left the post at that, the only thing it tells anyone is that you had zero intentions of doing anything except enjoying them while you wait for them to die.
Also, that wasn't even directed at you it was directed at the debate going on regarding your original post's meaning. So yeah, I'll say it again, glad things worked out for you.

Looking at your original post you did not come off as someone looking for help. You came off as a kid mad at his parents when you were scolded for going behind their back and getting another snake. You came on a snake forum looking for sympathy and attention, for example telling everyone you were crying as you were writing the post. I'm guessing the conversation didn't go as you had planned. If you were truly only looking for advice your post would have looked a lot different and replied to as such.

Re: i have to watch my snakes starve as punishment
If you are really in dire straights, you could call the humane society or the ASPCA - or a rescue group to see if they will come pick up one of your snakes.
You could talk with your teachers - maybe your science teacher to see if they could help you re-home it.
You could put ads up around your school. Talk with your principal. Call the people at the pet store and see if anyone drives past your school- maybe they could drop off mice at the office (stranger things have been delivered!)
Maybe you have a friend or a teacher who lives near the pet shop who could stop by and pick up some food and bring it into school the next day.
Possibly you have a preacher or priest to talk with? Maybe that person could talk with your parents if yall go to church.
Just some ideas.

I was simply asking how I could work things out. I wanted ADULT advice to my CHILDISH problem. I know very knowledgable people are on this forum so I was seeking advice, however I should have waited until things cooled off. I can't see why I would get any sort of sympathy. I know what took place was wrong. Yes I am a kid, yes I had just been in a argument, yes I went behind their backs. Your point is? I worded it as best as I could. And yes I wanted the attention so I could get more advice (that may come across weird).

Everything is fine now! Snakes are all fed and parents are fine with me going to the store to get food to feed them. Thanks for the awesome advice though :)

Re: i have to watch my snakes starve as punishment
Good to hear. Tough lessons to learn. I snuck mice into my house when I was a kid... not knowing that one was a male (no way to physically tell; the mouse was deformed). Man, did I get in trouble when they started to reproduce and I had over 50 mice before I knew it...
Completely understand.

OK people the case as been resolved and I believe that the OP has learned a valuable lesson so no need to http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a.../DeadHorse.gif so the thread is now locked :lockd:
