Question About Females

I think it's how double clutch is being defined by each poster. Greg, I believe, meant two different clutches within a 12 month period.

Deb meant double-sired on the same clutch, if I read her right. I think Deb's scenario is probably more accurately defined as double-sired. :)

Thanks to everyone I was really confused about the whole deal. I guess people breeding year round have enough females and probably males to keep the ball rolling. Now I'm not saying I want to attempt this or anything. I was really curious and didn't come up with any answers on my own. My grandfather used to tell me there's no such thing as a stupid question just stupid people, lol. I know more than I did yesturday and thats an accomplishment in my book, thanks to everyone.

I breed in 2 different 'shifts. I have one group of females that are bred in the winter, and another group bred in the summer. So, technically, I breed 'year round', but no one BP would ever be bred twice in one year. IMO, it is far too much metabolic stress when you consider the breeding cycle of this species. Concentrate on successfully pulling off 1 healthy clutch before getting to far ahead of yourself. I think you will find that first clutch will be very educational (and rewarding).

I had a "brain-glitch" and couldn't think of the proper term..but included an explanation that I though would help define what I was talking about.

Is it even possible for a python to double clutch?? (have a clutch and then be bred again the same year and have another??) I thought I read somewhere that they can't be double clutched like corn snakes???
