    Buying a home was the best financial decision I've ever made. I am building equity, getting tax deductions, and improving my credit score.

    I used to rent apartments. It was TORTURE hiding 40 reptiles from management. Now I have an entire floor :banana:

    Don't get me started on taxes. I live in Virginia, the tax capitol of the country. We get taxed on everything here. They even tax our cars twice a year as personal property...that's in addtion to the cost of the tags and vehicle inspection.

    I rent a townhouse, and boy does it suck. Maintenance is lousy, the place sucks in general, all my animals but two are technically going against the pet policy, and in the end, I will have spent all this money, just to move out of here next year. I pay a little under 9,000 a year to live here, and that does not include utilities. Together, my husband and I make about 25-26k per year, after taxes. If only we could afford a house.

    What part of Florida? I'm in Jacksonville and looking to relocate more south.
