I just thought that Deborah's comment was overly strong as the OP said he has experience in breeding boas. I know they're not BP's but come on, he is way ahead of people that have never bred snakes and I'm pretty sure it will not be that steep of a learning curve for him.

Really you are right and everybody and their grand mother can put two snakes together, that does not mean they see the big picture, you obviously do not but like you said you do not have a clue if you did you would know a large number of people who do not ask themselves the right questions, don't have a plan and or rely on what other like, usually do not make it past 3 years.

Without a plan, vision and passion people generally fail, I have seen it over and over again, of course it's a lot easier for someone to say go for it it will be great rather than make people question themselves, investigate and dig deeper and see what the reality of breeding animals is especially BP. There is a big picture out there when you breed.

And as for your previous answer I do not found it funny that would fall in the promoting illegal behavior to dangerous advice category which we do not need here.

Craig already made the point people have come here to learn, not to be entertained by pointless, and potentially misinterpreted jokes that could reflect poorly on the community. Seriously, you claim to joke about it but it's a legit problem, people HAVE let their snakes loose and it happens more frequently than any of us are comfortable with. Deborah has been breeding ball pythons for many years and knows red flags when she sees them or what information to give to newbies starting out. Maybe it's not as fluffy as others would like it, but she knows her stuff, gives hard truths and facts that need to be said and known first and foremost.

Considering you are inexperienced yourself and admitted to not having a clue about ball pythons, you best keep your comments to yourself and not challenge those who actually know what they're talking about.

I 100% agree with your needing a plan to be successful or you guarantee failure. And also agree to your last comment as I did not consider the legality of such actions. For that I apologize.

Just please remember this is a public forum. ANYONE can come here to read threads and posts, and in the eyes of someone who is brand new to reptiles, everyone is a knowledgeable keeper. Those who don't know better can't always distinguish those with experience and successful keeping under their belt opposed to those just starting out and promoting bad advice.

Mistakes happen. We've all been guilty of saying something that's gotten out of hand. I think what's important is to just be more mindful and think before you speak and be aware how others may misinterpret what you say.

It's tough to read sarcasm when typed by an absolute stranger.
    But to answer your questions:
Yes, mature people who want to learn will admit when they have no clue.

Yes, people DO release snakes into the wild.

Oh trust me, I'm a very easy going, light hearted, almost never serious person. But I at least think before I type.

Like I said, people come here to learn. So, moving forward, if it's not a positive contribution maybe you shouldn't chime in. There's obviously plenty of light hearted threads on this forum, you need to choose which ones you're an asset to and stick to those.

My wife says she does the thinking in the family. She actually says this.
