Don't over think (I know, I know, easier said than done, hahahaha). Nothing has to be "perfect". You'll learn and you'll grow. You're off to a great start. Huge props for having your set up ready BEFORE bringing your snake home.

Yes, way easier said than done lol. And thank you for your help, I feel tons better about it all!

A UTH is fine if the ambient temp of the room is high enough, 78 F or above. In that case a warm spot on the floor will suffice. If the ambient temp is too low, then you can't get away with a UTH and need to use something like a ceramic heat emitter (CHE), incandescent bulb, or best of all a radiant heat panel (RHP). Only in the coldest of rooms do you need both a UTH and RHP/CHE.

Try what Craig suggested and move the CHE (it is a CHE, right?) to one side to create a thermal gradient. Make sure you use a thermostat for it though!

Or you could leave it as it is, but get a second thermostat to regulate the CHE and reduce the ambient temp down to 80-82 or so. That is the lower end of comfortable BP temps and will allow her to cool off, if she feels the need.

You'll get it worked out. It looks as though you are definitely on the right track and you'll be enjoying your new snake soon.

Yes, it is a CHE with a dimmer. I was told that a thermostat would make the CHE burn out quicker? I did in fact move it and I'm letting it set a while so I can see where I'm at. Thank you for your help as well!!

You can use a dimmer as added protection in case thermostat fails.

However, all heat sources must be regulated by thermostat.

I don’t think it will make it burn out quicker. However, would you rather replace a CHE a little early, or replace your snake?

That is true. I want my snake to be the safest. Going to order one right now. Thanks.

    You’re welcome.

We all want what’s best for your buddy when they arrive.

Very cool you are setting everything up prior to acquiring the animal.

The thermostat below is solid and can run two devices. They have others that can run many more, you are planning on growing your collection.

Good luck and keep us in the loop.
