Pudding progression thread

If the breeder said hopper I'd listen and do that for the first few feedings. After it is feeding well and has settled in I would go up a size then.

With his weight I would try a small adult mouse. Btw your snek is so dang cute! Look at that snoot!

Thanks! So should I go with small mouse? I definitely think that according to feeding chart, he should eat small mouse. Hoppers are offered for 3~5 meals and I am sure he ate more meals than that.

I am getting feeders from the place I got my ball python from. They are the best rated shop in my town.
Anyways, I know that it is best to not handle baby until the first feeding. Is it not recommended to just open the tub and check the temp with temp gun? or is that fine as long as I don't touch the snake

I was wondering, if the hot spot was at 88~90 ish and the snake was laying on it, temp went up to like 94~95 at the bottom of the tub. he was laying on the substrate which has lower temp though. This makes sense that the place snake was laying on could get hotter but is this fine?

I have question about switching from live to f/t. So he was on live but I was planning to change to f/t. Should I try feeding f/t on the first feeding? or give live for couple feeding then switch to f/t? Just thought of it because he came to new environment and changing to f/t might not work out right away but just my thinking.

Take the temp at the glass not on top of the substrate. The glass should read 90. They will burrow so make sure that the glass measures 90. You do. It want a burned snake.

I use tub, and I am measuring under the substrate (paper towel) Since he is laying on there, I think it makes sense that where he is laying can get warmer then what I have set to, or maybe I am wrong.
