I never let my chihuahua's near the snakes. If I'm holding a snake and they come up to me, I tell them "no!" and they go do their own thing and they've learned that snakes are something to avoid now. I've seen videos on YouTube of dogs with snakes draped on them, I've never seen the benefit of it. In my opinion, the snakes interacting with dogs aren't beneficial to them at all, so what's the point in going through the stress of trying to introduce them to each other and trying to get them comfortable with each other?

Besides, when my boa gets big enough, the dogs will practically be snake food... Don't want her around the dogs at that point. [emoji39]

This. Any time my cats have gotten near me while I'm holding my snakes, the snakes rear their heads back as if startled. That was the only sign I needed years ago. Plus I don't want my snake confusing small furry creatures with food in the event of an escape. Not sure if it's possible to condition them that way, but I figure why risk it?

I don't let my dog near my snakes on purpose, but I don't care if he hangs out while I hold them. He knows they're "off limits" but I don't let them interact in the first place. Imo for the snake they'll tolerate the dog at best, or be stressed out at worst.
