    Yep. The probe can certainly be off the ground just as long as the heat isn't coming from the ground. :gj:

    So you are saying to place the probe between the bottom of tank and mat?

    Yep! It's the most efficient way to go when using heat mats and other under-tank type heaters.

    What mat did you end up deciding on?

    We're sticking with smalls! And I have permission to buy a t-stat now ^^
