Iguana stunted growth?

Here is a pic from a few days after her accident. The first few days she was critical and would barely move and then one day, this happened...

And here is her most recent photo. See how much longer the 'black' end of the tail is?

Aside from that, she hasn't grown any or shed at all :/ Acts healthy but never grows.

I don't own any Iguanas so hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong, but generally speaking black isn't a good sign, so I would still get it to a vet IMHO.

Sorry, I didn't read the thread closely earlier - just saw you were looking for vets in Florida and posted some northern options. I've rescued iguanas in the past with broken tails and they always regenerated black. She undoubtedly stopped eating due to the trauma but it sounds like she's coming around now. I can't tell so much from the pictures but if the black on her tail is new growth I wouldn't worry about it. If the black is actually expanding towards her vent then I would worry and get to that vet asap.

Nope it seems to be regrowth. The only thing is her actual body is not growing at all.

Is this one still housed near the other, even though they're in separate cages now? Igs can be very territorial, and if there was stress between the two, it will continue as long as they can see or even smell one another. Is that how this one lost the section of its tail? Fairly common thing to happen. And yes, iguana tails do regenerate, they start out black and will eventually turn green again, though without any pattern, and they will look slightly different than the original. And it's a slow process.

The other iguana was rehomed to someone familiar with aggressive iguanas, so no he has been out of the picture for quite some time. She lost her tail because she escaped her cage and found a way outside and I think one of the cats tried to grab her because when we found her there was only the nub.

OK, that's good to hear. It might be a good idea to have a fecal done to check for parasites. Something she had before the injury may have become an issue now that she is hurt and stressed. Any vet should be able to do that if you give them a sample. And if you do decide to take her to a reptile vet make sure to bring a sample with you then as well.

Thanks, that's a great idea! Maybe Harmony can do that for me. They are asking $75 for just the visit and that's actually cheap for my area.

Update: Lady shed last night for the first time since her accident!she is already looking bulkier and she has been eating like crazy! I'm not sure what sparked it, but I'm glad!
