There are plenty of cases of people having problems that were feeding out of their enclosure that was solved by feeding in the cage.

Try getting a gtp out to feed. That would be fun.

Why do you choose to feed out of their cage Misha, just curious?

Well one of the main reasons for feeding in a seperate container is I keep my pairs in the same terrarium so feeding in the terrarium is definitely not an option for me.

Another reason is I feed live so not only I want to make sure they eat in a safe environment just in case something happens, live mice tend to pee and poop so I don't want my snakes slithering in that.

Like I said, it's a personal choice. But I don't think that it should be treated as the "wrong" way of doing something.

Breeding pairs or males and females?

You will find that most members keep each snake alone and feed f/t. So by saying you feed in a separate container but failing to say why it leds others to follow your advice without having a valid reason to if they are not keeping their snakes in the same manner you are or feeding the same type of prey.

There is no reason for a keeper to feed a snake living alone and eating f/t in a separate container. Sure under certain circumstances it may have a very good explanation but you have to be more specific when giving advice.

No, you didn't see that here.. I ,myself as well as just about everyone here feeds in the enclosure..if u feed out,no biggie,I've done it before...as soon as there done eating ,give them about 2 minutes and pick him or her up and put him or her right back in there enclosure..I've done it before. They will go right for a hide when placed back in there enclosure. Ppl tend to blow things out of proportion. When he is done pick him up and put him back,it's as simple as that .

I have a male and a female who share a terrarium.

I agree with you that I would have to be more clear for MY reasons of doing it. But I don't think feeding live nor feeding in seperate container should be a wrong way of doing it. I always write that it's a personal choice in doing so.

Plus, if feeding in another container works for the OP, idk why everyone is giving him a hard time. Especially since he openly said he wants to continue feeding in a seperate container.

I think keepers should be given a choice in doing something and let them pick which one works best for them. Not shame them just because it's not how you do things. For example most people don't keep a pair together in the same terrarium but that doesn't mean it's wrong. Just not preferred by most.

I never say its wrong. I do say what most do and what they have learned, me included. If they choose another way that's fine with me. The information was shared and that's all I can do. It's just not fair to agree that something is just as good when the details of the two cases are so different. I appreciate you accepting that. I dont try to be hard on noobs but written text while trying to be short and to the point can come off that way.

I bought my BRB as a known trouble eater. They were feeding in a separate container and while they tried f/t they usually only had luck with live. I took the challenge and tried everything to get him to eat, including feeding in the feeding tub. I ended up finding that the issue was two things. 1. He doesn't readily take food in the feeding tub, instead he just explores it. 2. He doesn't take medium rats but will hammer small ones. However he will only hammer them in his cage not the feeding tub, moving him throws him off.

My big blood would probably eat anything, anywhere, but why move a huge snake without a reason when it's ready to feed? There is just no point. I don't really want her to latch on to me and will avoid getting bit when I can. I have been tagged plenty of times and would like to skip getting her attached to my arm. That would not be good for her or I.

I see why you, Misha, feed as you do. Im not going to say your practices are wrong but some will. ;) We actually have a few members that keep more than one snake in a cage. We also have members that feed live in the snakes cage, some with large collections.

How old and how much do they weigh? What size terrarium? That's pretty cool.

Definitely feed him in the enclosure, it's so much easier, doesn't stress the snake, and you aren't risking getting bit. You're opening yourself up to bites by picking up the snake before/after feeding.

My girl is about two years old and is 956g. My boy is about a year and a half and weighs 656g. They're in a 40 gallong terrarium right now but I'm going to be building them a 7x2x2 wooden enclosure soon.
