It is rare for a BP to latch on, 99% of the time bites are from defensive strikes (like a punch), and not feeding response (which is when the snake holds on and tries to constrict you)
Most of the time you don't have to do anything, maybe pour some peroxide over the wound to disinfect it, abut a BP bite is a lot like getting a shot. (clean puncture wounds that heal very quickly)

Thanks for the answer... I know it will happen eventually, there are too many reasons (in my house we have dogs, cats that are always jumping up or wanting to see what we are doing with the snake) for the snake to get alarmed and bite out in fear or defense. I am not afraid, I just don't want to do something stupid that will hurt the snake. Can't be any worse than a horse, dog, cat, or macaw bite and I have had ALL of those.:P:D

Honestly I think that a bee sting hurts way worse than a bite from a BP. Really nothing to be concerned about. The first time I got bit I didn't even realize that I did until I looked down and saw the teeth marks.
Re: My first bite....I feel like I've been inducted lol
We use to have a 6 1/2 red tail and she bit me once on the wrist. It didnt hurt at first it just scared the hell out of me, but after a few minutes it started to burn a bit like a cat scratch would. It was my fault she did it I didnt wash my hands after holding my ferrets. Now anytime I get my little ball out I always wash my hands so I dont smell like our cat.

I have been tagged a couple of times, not as bad as I thought it would be. Still some pretty scary stuff!

Welcome, grasshopper! This is why I always use feeding tongs. ;)

Me neither and I've been at this awhile lol

I was always told that you are more likely to get bit feeding or trying to take a bp out of the tank/bin. I never feed by hand, always with tongs. I also use a hook to take some of my snakes out of the rack
