I had this happen to one of my snakes. A lesser male got out and under something (I can't recall exactly what), anyway he was fine, no abrasions or anything. One his next shed though, he lost all the color from the scales that must have rubbed. Now it looks like he totally rubbed his scales off...but they are all there, and all fine. The color went back to normal with a few sheds.

This has happened to a couple of mine, but they are all starting to get their color back unfortunately :( It looks great on an axanthic!

I have a "normal" female that gets paler and redder with every shed. She looked normal for her first two years of life and then started changing colors with every shed. This has been going on for the last 4-5 years and some of her daughters I held back 3 years ago are now starting to do the same thing.

I had this happen to my pastel male about two years ago. Freaked me out slightly, but nothing happened except a random color change when he'd shed. Nothing different about the scales except a lighter color, and its still noticeable but has faded. He just has a random patch of light scales on his neck and on one spot on his back.
