It might be worth the piece of mind to have a fecal exam done. It is odd. Just a second thought did you try shaking out the newspaper on something (white paper) to see if any similar black bits come out? It might be something off the paper.
if it continues, ill have it examined. i didnt shake out the news paper, i threw it out. but i did look closely and didnt see anything at all.

Re: speckled urate?
I think everyone is over thinking this one. Urates take on all kinds of different colors and forms not just white. I wouldn't worry one bit. I have seen many an ugly urate in my time. When you use newspaper you see all the details. I have seen this many many times, nothing to worry about.

I too have seen this with my snakes from time to time. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, I had this happen once. I looked at it, poked it, put it in a tupperware and kept it for a week to see if it would do anything. Nothing happened. Said snake hasn't passed a similar one since. I figured it was possibly something on the rat I had fed, or something the rat had eaten that wasn't normal. None of my other snakes have done it either.
But I do second the distilled water, it does take an element of confusion out. I also recommend that you take the water dish - and if possible - boil the whole thing for a good 10 minutes or so. and let it cool on its own. I do this whenever something strange comes up, or just change out the dish if it isn't boilable.
