I'll probably do the same with BP eggs. Probably not a big gaping whole, but a flap, at least.

I've noticed that it helps the odds of live poultry a lot! I would imagine it would be about the same as ball pythons. And yes, not a gaping hole, just enough to breathe!

I cut on day 52, but I have seen some people cut as early as day 45. If you're going to cut early just make sure that the hatchlings stay in the egg long enough to absorb the yolk.
Cut, wait, top up egg with water and wait some more...

My original plan was to cut after the first one pips, but I'm very impatient, so who knows what I'll end up doing. I wouldn't cut any earlier than day 50, though.

I cut after the first one pips also. Seems like everyone has the same game plan.

I cut after the first pip as well. To be sure none die in the egg from a lost egg tooth or tied umbilical cord.

I cut my bp eggs on day 52. I was going to leave my corn eggs to pip on thier own but on day 60 thier incubator was accidentally knocked over and they were no longer in the upright position that they were from being layed. I was worried thier air pockets may have been affected so I cut them to ensure no one drowned. They are all still in thier eggs but are alive and well.

I know there are those that cut as early as day 30:O Like many others here I just wait till the first one pips.
Cutting will not get them out of the egg any earlier anyways, so why bother?
It just opens the egg to pathogens, bacteria, mold spores ect.
That shell is there for a reason.....duh:rolleyes:

I always cut in 52-53 days and not had any problem. Make sure that yo will not lose fluid or huminity too much. They will come out when they ready that will be in 55-58 days. Goodluck

I have my first clutch this year too, and I'm still not sure if I'm going to cut or not. I'm thinking about waiting until day 55 and if they're not pipping by then well...snip snip. :D

I only cut if a problem is suspected. Otherwise, I leave them to pip on their own.
