Hmm.. converting standard (tall) aquariums to longs?
using plexi? Vent it with holes; glue on handles. But how about attaching the hinges to the glass aquarium? Gorilla glue small pieces of wood then screw on hinges?

This could work and give more floor space... I've got a great hookup on used fish aquariums so I'd rather do something this then buy new longs.

i got a cage with my rescue boas, they used some sorta heavy duty glue to glue the hinges to the plastic... and then you could drill into the plexi and bolt the hinges to the plexi...

i have contemplated it a few times... lol

Ok, I admit I have no idea what you're talking about here. Hinges?

The only way to give more floor space to a tank would be to take two tanks and knock out an end wall on each, then somehow join them together. If you're talking about adding another level to a tall tank, that would only benefit climbers and mammals. BPs don't like climbing much, with the exception of a nice slither over a branch or two in their cage, and don't climb to get away from predators or get warmer like lizards do, so they probably would not make use of a second level.

    If I'm totally off the mark, I apologize...but I don't know what you're suggesting/asking here. :)

silicone sealant works fine as a glue usually. If your tank is also plexi then you can use weld-on. Same if you use plastic hinges.

    * argentra, many dart frog keepers use inserts to convert their long tanks to tall tanks for some types of frogs, basically the o.p. wants to do this, but backwards, making a tall tank a long.

    Correct.
Take a tall tank; lay it on it's side; attach hinges to the tank and plexi door to make the top become the front. Seems pretty simple.

    Silicone eh? Hmm.... may work.
I hear gorilla glue is amazing stuff too. Just dunno about glass

 Ok... on its side... I just couldn't see that for some reason, guess I'm slow tonight.
