Can I Use a VE-200 Stat for a CHE?
The title is self explanitory. I got a great deal on a used VE-200 stat and I plan on upgrading to a PVC enclosure soon. Is it okay to use a VE stat to control a CHE or not?

Where will the CHE go in the PVC enclosure? Does it have a screen top? Is there a bulb receptacle? If not, you want probably want a Radiant Heat Panel (RHP) instead. They will bolt inside the PVC enclosure.
IF I misunderstood, and the CHE is for your current setup with a screen top, then I agree with Homebody. That should work fine.

I've been going back and forth between the two. This was more of a hypothetical question. On one hand, an RHP is a reliable but expensive heat source, but on the other hand a CHE needs to be replaced more often but is cheaper and easier to deal with. I've gotten a quote from ProHeat on a panel and I know how much a CHE would cost. I'm just weighing the pros and cons of each and making sure that each option is viable for me.

A CHE is not a good idea for a PVC enclosure. It's a cheap option now.
For a PVC enclosure, you should be using a RHP.

Gotta say, I also spoke with ProHeat and got RHP from them for our boa's PVC enclosure and I am NOT disappointed. These things are amazing and Bob was so detailed in how to set up the optimal enclosure for what we wanted to do. Definitely not the cheapest option but I don't ever wanna have to deal with bulbs of any kind again.

This is the only answer you need. Keepers discussing things being too expensive is s bit worrisome at times. I've had a preheat panel for years now and don't even consider its reliability. The time saved from travel buying ****ty bulbs outweighs cost any day. The fact that my snake or enclosure can't readily melt to a bulb is also a plus. This topic has also likely been discussed on this forum before.

A CHE is not a good idea for a PVC enclosure. It's a cheap option now.
For a PVC enclosure, you should be using a RHP.

I promise I do NOT cheap out on my animals, and I have spent over $800 in vet bills alone this month. I was simply wondering if it was possible, and whether it was worth it or not. Now I have my answer. All I want is the best for my babies.
