How to include pictures in a thread

I had typed something up, and went to upload a picture onto here but have no clue how. I know it sounds kind of dumb, but I genuinely have no clue. It won't let me just the picture, so I would have to use the url. But how?

1. By uploading it to your gallery and than place the link to your picture
2. By uploading it to a third party host and than place the link to your picture
3. By uploading it Tapatalk and app that can be added to your phone
