    Stairs or Elevators?
ok i like to taking the stairs. but the other day i hurt my right side achilles tendon and i was in alotta pain yesterday. like (almost) crying at my desk pain. it still hurts alot today and i've been walking with an awkward limp and can't run at all.

anyways that got me think about stairs and stuff. my offices are on the 3rd and 4th floor of a big building and i take the stairs instead of the elevators. i prefer taking the stairs in most buildings, airports, the mall, etc. etc. i think i can sprint up most stairs for like 4 or 5 flights before i have to climb at a regular pace. i think i can do 7 or 8 before i get annoyed. and it really annoys me when i'm w/ a group and they all decide to take the elevators to go up 1 or 2 floors. i'm like i don't wanna leave everyone so i hop in the elevator or on the escalator too.

anyways how many flights of stairs do u prefer to do before it becomes an inconvenience? 1? 2? 10?

Done lots of stairs over the years, I guess what do you mean by take on. I’m almost 50 but I could still go a good number of flights.

Due to some brain damage in my early adult life I was dizzy most of the time. When I wasn’t dizzy it could be triggered by just turning around, looking at a ceiling fan, watching cars go by, and the worse one - elevators.

Elevators were the worse because I traveled a lot and was in tall buildings on a daily basis. Thus, I was forced to take stairs. This was difficult because most of the buildings had locked doors to prevent you from going up, but not down.

My two hardest experiences was when I stayed at the John Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco for a week. Naturally I was on one of the top floors when all rooms were sold out. I believe I had to take 30 + floors a few times a day.

The other tough one was Caesar’s Palace, same circumstances, but I was on like the 25th floor.

While I can take the stairs if I choose to, it really depends on whether or not I'm in a hurry. But I don't really need the exercise. I'm a soccer referee. I get paid to exercise. lol

But, seriously, anything over 2 to 3 stories while wearing a suit, not a good thing. It's the elevator for me.

What really upsets me is when people use the elevator to go down one or two flights.

For whatever reason, I have very weak knees. I can only go up about 5 steps (not flights) before it becomes a struggle. I can do down any amount and I can walk for days on flat, semi-flat ground.

I work in a huge hospital and I will take the elevator to just go up OR down one flight. My reason....I run my ass off all day at work. I use those few precious moments to relax. ;)

Interesting, for me it’s harder on the knees going downstairs than up.

I guess it’s it similar to push and pull. In my sports days most of my buddies could out push me, but I could out pull them.
