Re: Red Light vs Blue Light
I have no personal experience with the red lights so I can’t say for sure on whether or not the snakes react to them but I did used to use the blue night lights when I had tanks. I really liked the blue lights because they looked kind of like moonlight and the snakes didn’t seem to notice them at all.
I have a pic somewhere of the light but I’ll have to find it. I’ll post it here if I do.

I know my Burm can see the color red real well. If I shoot the temp in his cage, he will lock in on the red dot from the laser. The laser is about shot and is pretty dim and Loki thinks hum possible food?
Re: Red Light vs Blue Light
I've actually looked up studies on what light waves BPs can see, and it seems to be right around green and blue, plus ultraviolet and their IR heat sense (very far from red). I would recommend a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) or a RHP (radiant heat panel) instead of heat lamps because neither of these give off light so you can use it 24 hours without disturbing them at night. I use a regular red light bulb to look at Naga in the evenings, and it doesn't seem to bother him, but I don't leave it on over night since I only use it to see him. I use natural light from the window for his day/night light cycle.

Re: Red Light vs Blue Light
here's a pic: i installed (using a glue gun) an LED RGB light strip in my rack and this is the color i use most. it looks like moonlight. [emoji4] the pic makes it look really bright but it's on the lowest dimmer setting and fairly dim.
i plan on getting another one of these for my T8.

you've gotten great advice so i'll summarize my opinion: for light, you can use anything you want but it should be for light only. for heat, get a CHE that produces only heat.

Yeah really good advice from everyone, I like your set up, looks really good! I just ordered a CHE bulb I'll have running 24/7, it'll run along side my daytime light during the day to maintain temp and then at night it won't let the temp drop too much. Also ordered some LED strips like the ones you used for your unit, we'll see how they turn out, they come with a remote that I can change the colors with, we'll see if they are any good. If they are I'll share the link.
