SIM Container or Rubbermaid tub for incubation?
I haven't seen a whole lot of reviews on the S.I.M. incubation containers but the ones I've found have been positive for the most part. I'm just wondering if they are worth the money or if a normal Rubbermaid tub with vermiculite will be just as good. This will be 1st time breeding hognoses so I'm trying to get everything in order ahead of time and want to make sure I make things as easy as possible while still doing it right.
Bonus question that I feel slightly dumb for asking. When removing eggs from the lay box, do you place them in the container in the same position you found them in the lay box or do you candle and then adjust if needed?

Rubbermaid containers should work well

http://www.reptilebasics.com/RETraymed , a lot cheaper obviously and keep you eggs nicely cradled and off the medium you are using (I use perlite).
The reason I like this method is unlike BP or Honduran Milksnakes eggs those eggs do not stick together when laid so they tend to roll around very easily if you check on your box (they are very round) which is why I like for them to be cradled.
I buy the deli cups bulk from a shipping supply company.
And yes every egg is placed the way it was found.
Do you add water to the perlite during incubation to keep the humidity up or does it retain enough throughout the incubation?

I do not, I usually do a 2 parts perlite 1 part water which last me throughout incubation.

Usually I found perlite around spring time, it's use in horticulture so it's easier to find during panting season, I used to get mine at lowes just make sure there is no additives.
And for deli cups http://www.tsksupply.com/pwp-128-oz-round-container/ don't forget the lids it average a little less than $1.50 per cup so big difference with Reptile Basics cups. (best pricing I have found)
Get enough to make sure to cover double clutches while usually they will be laid at about the time that the first clutch hatch sometime it happens a little bit earlier, and your female may double clutch even if you do not re-introduce a male.
