    possible snake rack purchase!
found this listing on craigslist posted yesterday. we're emailing back and forth. here's the only pic so far; i asked for more but to no avail. i'll probably ask again.https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...c245e9d426.jpg

custom build using heat tape, apparently fits 12qt and 28qt tubs: $150. with tubs and thermostat: $200.

should i go for it?? this would be considered a hatchling rack, yes? it's apparently "37 inches long by 24 inches wide/deep", so i'd need bigger tubs for my older ones and once the young ones are bigger, right?

any input is appreciated!!! thank you!

looks like each shelf can hold one 28quart, two 12quart and possibly four 6quart tubs. breeders do keep established adult BP's @2000grams in 28-32quart tubs w/ just he waterbowl and one hide.

looks like the heat tape is not one long strip but 4 different strips and runs concurrently. i would confirm it all works. also each shelf looks stable as it sits in routed in the side walls.

i think this would make a nice hatchling rack - could hold 2 or 3 clutches - in the future or a nice and efficient home for your current snakes. :)

thank you for the response! i asked how many tubs it held: "depends on the size 12 12qt tubs or 8 28qt tubs"

for the heat tape: would it be better for me to just replace it?

i just moved Spaghetti into her 32qt tub and i think she's cramped in it lol; i couldn't imagine a 2000g+ snake in a 28qt tub...since i only have 2 snakes (Coffee and Pumpkin) who will fit into this and 2 maybes (Spaghetti and Yellow) would this be worth it? and is this a good deal? or can i save my pennies and wait for another one when i actually have breeding plans? honestly i've been eyeing the CB70 as a christmas present so i'm torn if i should pass this up or not...

ok i take that back. i think it's one long strip of 3inch (maybe 4inch) heat tape. i can see heat tape running up the right side wall on that 2nd shelf from the top. not sure how she did it with the routered channel. if it's wired correctly and works, there's no need to replace it unless u wanna go with wider heat tape.

if you're set on a bigger rack/enclosure for your snakes in the future, i would save for and buy the CB70. if u wanna breed and have some clutches, i would negotiate w/ this guy for a lower the price and buy it for possible breeding.

thank you for the info. i think since i'm still so far from any breeding, i should (keyword: should) focus on the animals i have.if i can negotiate on price with them i just may pull the trigger, but only if i'm happy with the amount since i won't be filling this rack up right away. i may keep my focus on the CB70. thanks again!!!

so update: the seller is willing to negotiate on price for the rack and tubs (no thermostat). i'm going to go pick it up and their place so i have some wiggle-room there in terms of negotiation power.

what do you think i should offer? i'm thinking of offering $100 and not going above $125. thoughts?

Bamp? Did you get them to throw in a thermostat? That would be a feat worthy of such a word.

bamp (bump) to get my thread back to the top lol.

TBH i'm not sure if i want their thermostat; the seller wouldn't tell me the brand. i'll have to ask again when i send my reply and offer once i'm home from work.

eight 28quart tubs? that's two 28quart tubs per shelf. so that means it can fit a 28quart-plus, up to one 56quart tub if u can find one with the appropriate dimensions.

Edit: it is only 4 shelfs right? i assume so b/c there's only 4 within the frame of the pix.
