Is acurite really the best brand?

I have 2 measuring the ambient temperature on both sides to make sure both sides are consistent I have a temp gun for surfave temps The acurite seem a lot better than the analog stick on ones but I'm still paranoid because I love my lil Bp baby and only want the best for him/Her if anyone has any thoughts feel free to share them thanks in advance. Acurite is trusted by every herper i know. Analogs tend to be off unless they're the old school mercury in glass kind. I'd honestly never recommend putting that in a tank due to breakage and toxicity issues.

The stick on analogs are definitely inaccurate I know that for sure because I put jeffrees old stick on Thermometer in my room to test it I left my window open the whole night and when I woke up this morning it said 70 Fahrenheit which was way off it was frigid cold in here... I'd never put a mercury thermometer in his tank

An analog stick on thermometer can be "off" just like a digital thermometer and a temperature gun can be "off"too. I have and use all and prove their accuracy within a degree or two with a Fluke meter and type K thermocouple. A degree or two is way more than close enough. Having worked in the electric utility industry for 38+ years i can tell you without a doubt a temperature gun is great to get in the ball park for temps. I use guns for shooting 345 kV power lines all the way down to 480 V breaker buckets checking for high joints and other hot spots. Even our temp guns on a regular basis must be checked and calibrated with a Fluke instrument for temp gun calibration which runs about 5k dollars. The temp question comes up and is beaten like a dead horse on a regular basis. They all work. If you really want to be safe and assured with tank temps, get 3 devices to measure temps. If one flakes out, it is readily apparent. In the electric generation industry we call that an auctioneering system.

I use an accurite for Dean and it works great :)

I use acurite on the cool side for my ambient temps and humidity. I use the gun for cool side and hot side checks daily.

of course there's probably a better, more expensive brand out there, but for the price you can't go wrong with accurite.

Are they the best? No. Are they the most precise? No.

But they are widely available, are accurate enough, and are reliable. You can get more expensive items that have great precision and the ability to calibrate within a fraction of a degree but unless you are breeding million dollar investments there is really no reason to get better than acurite.

I currently have many different models for all sorts of uses and they are all doing their job.

One thing about them is they take a few days to get dialed in. After that they all stay pretty rock solid. If they are a degree or two off I really don't care that much. For the price they can't be beat.

Same except I have one on each side cuz the ambient temp sometimes likes to be either way higher or way lower on one side! I also use a temp gun for surface temps

Accurite certainly is one of the top of the line thermo/ hygro makers. I really think its a good idea to have two thermo/ hygros so you can get a range of where you're at. Then the ir temp gun for further accuracy as far as the surface temps go. When i'm incubating eggs i use at least two thermo/ hygros and sometimes three. ;)
