Hole in the head scales

Here is before and after
The snake is 2 months old. I just noticed this. Eats perfectly all other husbandry is perfect.

Geez that looks horrible. What was the cause of this in the first place??

Is he still moving around and responding to stuff OK? (Other than eating) That looks deep enough to cause neurological damage. There are lots of really knowledgeable people on here, I'm sure someone will be able to help you out. Good luck!

holy wow you need to find out what caused this injury asap and rectify the issue. i'd also create as sterile an environment as possible: paper towel substrate, deep cleaning of everything in the enclosure. the last thing you need is an infection on top of this.

get some betadine or neosporin WITHOUT pain relief and apply it daily.

how long as the wound been there? did it come gradually or was it something that happened overnight?

In my honest opinion, that looks like something you need to address with a vet. Like taylor said, sterilize his hab and triple check for anything sharp that may have caused it and then take him to see a professional who can help you figure out what that is or what caused it and treat it properly.

The head is already swollen in the first pic. In the second it has progressed even further. It was time to see a vet from the beginning. I have never seen anything like that. I'm going to look it up tonight.

No sharp objects regular tub. Responds just fine eats fine all is well otherwise. I just saw it. Looked at the tub again. Nothing there

Could it possibly be a bite from a live feeding?
Regardless, get to the vet asap. Will most likely need antibiotics. Good luck

I believe you. It does not look like an injury to me, at least not a recent one. Something nasty is going on.
