UTH enough as heat or do I need air temp as well?

I've had my ball python for several months now, and I've been using a UTH for belly heat, as well as a bulb to keep air temperature constant. But I recently changed his tank and my bulb doesn't emit enough heat to keep the hot side air temp 88-92. But the UTH surface temp is around 90-92, and about 80 on the cool side air and surface.

So I was just wondering if I can just have belly heat temp and not air temp.

You never want the ambient temperature 88 to92 degrees. That is what the temperature of your UTH should be.
Ambient shouldnt be less than 78ish degrees.

Also I hope you are taking your UTH temperatures under the substrate.

I have the thermometer probe under the substrate on the hot and cool side, so the temperatures I'm getting is directly read under the 1 inch of substrate.

Also, does that mean I don't need a lamp to keep ambient temps?

What are your ambient temperatures without the uverhead?

Also your thermostat probe for belly heat should not be inside the enclosure. Not only could it be moved but fluids can give a false reading.

without the over head lamps its about 78-81. and the humidity gets around 65 since i have a humidifier on low
oh the thermostat probe isnt in the enclosure, thats attached to the UTH
But my thermometer's probe is under the substrate

IF your ambient is around 80 degrees then you do not need any overhead heat.
