Waterbowl

Almost there. My AP enclosure should arrive by Wednesday... have most of the stuff needed to finish it up and get it all ready for my first ball.

Question on the waterbowl... debating on these two:

5" from Pet Mountain or 7.5" bowl from Chewy.com. Any recommendations on which to go for? Is the 7.5" too big for a juvie bp? Smaller better? Other recommendations?

It looks like the depth of the 7.5" inch is 2.76", which I think would work well for your new BP. I can't say with 100% certainty, but I don't think this would be too big. Just be sure to only fill it part way, maybe half full.

I may have missed it in a thread somewhere, but have you decided what you're getting for your first BP? And are you still thinking MBK for your next snake?

I'd go with the five inch water bowl. I don't like my bowls so big that the snake can sit in them, they really don't need to soak, and it keeps the drinking water cleaner. I spray down my substrate twice a week with water and spray down the snake at the same time, all but their heads. Keeps them clean and doesn't make a mess. I use a 2 gallon pump up sprayer from Home Depot. I actually use Dixie cups with PVC couplers. I love the fact I can swap out the Dixie cups real fast and save them for a rainy day to wash them up instead of washing a ton of bowls on cleaning day. They only heavy bowl I have is for my reticulated python, her head is about as big as this PVC coupler LOL. Of course if you have more of a display tank instead of a tub then the heavy bowl may look better (better curb appeal LOL).

Yes, definitely very excited. The patience is there cause I'm always working, so my mind is always on something else. :)

The T8 I ordered is with the divider. I am getting both a bp (not sure on the morph yet, but probably a pie) and the MBK. I think they're both really cool. And, to be honest, if it wasn't for the wife, I'd have gotten a rack so I can get more, cause they're all so damn cool. But, let me not get ahead of myself... I AM still new to the hobby.

After some time, I'll get another T8 or T10 to stack, and move one of the snakes.

Yep... definitely a display tank. I would have preferred something a little more natural looking, but I'm reading so much about how much easier it is to clean something simple... so, for now, simple it is.

Busy is good, and work will definitely keep the mind occupied.
I'm glad you're going with a BP and a King to start. In my opinion, they are both amazing species and great for beginners and experienced keepers alike. I have one of each and absolutely love them both, for very different reasons too. I've been around plenty of species and so far these two are by far my favorites as far as captive pets go. I really think you'll be happy with both choices.
I've read a lot of your threads, you're definitely putting in the due diligence and you will be a great keeper.
And I hear ya, if not for my girl I would have at least a few more too :gj:
