First regurg in years

Today when I woke up I had no idea what one of my girls had in store for me. As per normal I got up and checked the temperature and humidity levels in the incubator. Then went into my snake room. As soon as I walked in the door I knew I had a big problem. So I went down to the kitchen and grabbed the trash bin a fresh bag and got to work.
Not knowing where such a odious smell was coming from I decided to just clean them all.
I started working on the breeder females. 14 down and nothing. Next was the males. 5 in that rack. Again nothing. But about halfway ​through my hatching/grow out rack I found it. A normal 100% her pied had regurged. To make matters worse she had crawled under the newspaper substrate and done it on the floor of her tub on top of the heat source. OMG absolutely the WORST smell in the world bar none.
I remember why I previously advised someone who asked how to get rid of that smell to burn their house down. I searously considered it. But I was afraid the smell would endure.

I love the way you tell a story. Sorry you had to deal with that though, I can't even imagine.

Worst regurge I ever smelled was a snake that I never saw regurged a opossum in my back yard. It was obviously a large snake to get it down in the first place. There is no mistaking that stink for anything else. Try some vinegar, it may help.

Was the smell that of decaying flesh? The one that smells like soy sauce/fermentation? Or was it worse? I recently had my fiancee notice that the bedroom smelled, and when I got a wiff I knew it was the smell of rotting flesh, my savannah hadn't eaten its rodent and it was putrid from a day of waiting to be eaten (I tried thawing it in the enclosure, mistake). Apparently the crickets had gotten to it though.

Regurge smells like rot+++.

Oh, it is so much worse then "just" decaying flesh.

There really aren't any words for it. It is THAT bad.

Well, my first experience was a 3 day old semi-liquified rat. I described it as the "most intense imaginable soy sauce scent" as the odor was orders of magnitude more pungeant, but had that fermentation overtone. With the second occurance being the Sav's rats the other day.

Although I do know another dead animal stink that is completely unlike my experiences with rats. That was like a strong mold, liquified meat, fermented flesh, vomit smell. That actually caused a lot of mental and ol'factory distress

This too was a 3 day semi digested small rat but I had the joy of it being on my heat tape and thus being maintained at a nice 90° temperature for several hours to enhance the aroma

Oh no! I don't remember ever having a snake regurg but I will never forgot the time I finished working a 12 hour shift, got home and as soon as I opened the door could smell the death on the second floor. My tegu puked directly under her heat lamp and the rat spent 1 1/2 days cooking.
But on another note, yay pgh!
