The only thing i'd suggest is moving the tstat probes so they are not in a location they can be laid on or moved. Many people just dangle them from the back or side wall when controlling the ambient temps. This keeps them in a safe place. You of course will have to do some adjustments to the tstat settings.
KMG to the rescue again! So, if the Herpstat is controlling the ambient temp created by the CHE, do I dangle the probe on the side of the tank as close to the heat "spot" as I can? Then, adjust the Herpstat so that the "spot" reads 88F with my temp gun? (Even though the Herpstat will likely read a few degrees lower?)

To make sure I understand. You moved the pobe and where it is now hanging your temp gun says the wall is 94. But the tstat price is showing it is only 88.
Is that correct?
If it is it sounds like something needs calibrating. Some temp guns do have settings that you can change.
You need to find something you know the temp of to check the temp gun and work from there. If the batteries are old putting some fresh ones could help.
I'm getting closer now to what I'm looking for. I just needed some more patients. LOL thank you for all your help. Yes, that was my issue my temp gun gun was reading a lot higher than the Herpstat probe was... I did dunk the probe into some ice water and the results were accurate. So I'm confident in the Herpstat. If I hold the trigger down on the temp gun and do an average circling it in that small area I get very close to what the probe is reading. So, when I just click it once in one spot sometimes I get a randomly high reading...
