Issue feeding f/t rats.

Just feed all my balls and my blood and they all seemed to want to eat me instead of the rat. I normally thaw in warm water before feeding but decided to follow directions that I read at one point. Instead of letting the rats sit in warm water I just let them thaw to room temp by sitting on the counter. When I started to feed though most seemed to try to go after me instead of the rat. Has anyone had an issue feeding this way? Should I go back to thawing in warm water instead of just to room temp?

I thaw in room temp for a couple hours then throw em in water for like 5 min before feeding.

It's because they smell the rat but get a heat signature from you. You Need to get your rat warmer than room temperature right before feeding.

I ziploc mine individually throw them in hot water for 20-25 then heat them up with a blow dryer focusing on the head. Works. Like. A. Charm.

I thaw out the rodents in cool water. The time it takes to thaw the rodent depends on the size of the rodent.

After the rodents have been thawed, I dip each one in hot water before offering. (Typically 10-15 seconds)

My feeding goes like this:
(My ball was fed live before I got her all her life and I got her on frozen.)

1.) Put prey in cold water 30 mins
2.) Pour chicken broth in glass bowl (comes into play later)
3.) Put prey still in bag in broth, and put both under heating lamp for 10 minutes
4.) Take out bowl and set near feeding area
5.) Remove prey from bag, (And this is optional, but I usually will crack the skull to expose the brain a tad bit to entice her more) and put back under lamp, for 2-4 mins depending on size
6.) Dip feeding tong ends (the side you hold the prey with) in warm broth
7.) Feed prey to snake

It's worked for me everytime

I take my rodents out of the freezer on the morning of feeding. I put them in the herp fridge until later in the evening. In the evening, I put them in warm water for about 20 min, scent the room, and warm them a bit of they feel cold. I feed with tongs and I also use hand sanitizer to cool off my hands.

It'll also work every time without the chicken broth or skull cracking.

My BP used to be fed live all her life and she wouldn't eat frozen at first, and admittedly, I am a creature of habit so once I found a method that made her go for it every time I don't change a thing lol
