Question about a possible pick up.
Found on CL. Saying that he is a spider pos axanthic. I am guessing het. Says he is 2 years old. Wants 60. Would like to know what everyone thinks. Thank you.

Looks like a nice spider. Looks skinny, though. Definitely would expect a 2 year old snake that has been eating appropriate size meals regularly to be bigger, and it does look skinny. There's absolutely no way of knowing if it's het axanthic or not. $60 isn't a bad price... But I would be wary that the snake may not be in great shape. Craigslist can be super hit or miss when it comes to health of reptiles.

Yes I know I was thinking the same thing. I know there is no way to know about the het side of things until proved. And I would never take it without seeing it in person.

Het means you treat it as normal unless from a reliable breeder. It does look skinny, but pictures can lie and on occasion they do.

All in all $60 isn't a bad price, but you can get a spider that's in better health from a breeder at a reptile show for under $100/male.

Sixty dollars is not a lot to pay for a spider ball. I would get him and expect to give him some tlc . As long as he does not have any health issues other than being underfed you should be fine. Just feed him regularly and he will pickup his weight just fine. Enjoy your find.

I am into balls and have been since I was 14 with my first one. Then I got out of it for awhile when I was in the army. I just got back into it again 3 years ago and have 5 with a 6th on the way and in I decide on the spider then 7. I just wanted to know people's thoughts on here because I like to get not only a healthy animal but a quality one as well. What better place to ask about that but the place with the people with the best quality animals.

His pattern looks really clear, and I like his blushing :gj: If he seems healthy when you go to look at him, I'd say buy him! Of course, following proper quarantine procedure when you get him home.
