How do you do it?

I'm looking for ways to take photos of my big snakes. I can't seem to find a good way to get a picture of them outside of their enclosure. I would love to take them outside however I have this huge fear of them escaping from me. My thoughts now evolve a large photo back drop and maybe a large branch. Any better ideas?

most of my pictures of them outside they don't escape. you do afterall have an eye on them the entire time. but they seem not move so much if you place them on a branch outside. I don't really have any back drops or setups inside. So I can't really advise you on that. But if it's a nice day outside I don't see the harm in trying and seeing if you can take a couple pics of them in the grass or trees in natural sunlight :)

I would think that a really big light tent setup would work. Some PVC pipe and a decent quality sheet should be all you need (plus the lights of course)

Putting a big branch in it would be really cool, I might have to steal that idea!

If you get to figuring it out before me please share! I found the plans for a DIY lightbox with PVC so I'm wondering if making it larger would help. Or even a set up like a normal photography studio with the lights and reflectors.

I was hoping the branch would give the big kids something to play on so they wouldn't leave the photography area. I know a lot of my snakes will spend about 15 minutes on me before deciding the floor is in fact safe. Lol

I think I might try my hog island girl outside first. She isn't to fast and not as skinny as the retics who can fit in small places. Lol

Most people use snakes as models, find attractive people and have them pose with the snakes ;-) just keep it family clean so you can post shots here. Honestly though, I bring my 8+ ft snakes out all the time, more often than anything under 5' generally speaking. They just cruise around and some times I'll try and work in some natural stuff. Lately I've been messing around with my outdoor furniture and it's worked well -

7' 50% Super Dwarf, Reticulated Python, photographed just before / after some storms (in the background). Shot handheld with a wide angle, and flash mounted with a stoffen bounce.
