temperature monitoring

is there a wrong way to regulate bp temps? I struggled for a while with temps that would go as low as 73 even right under his uth. the only thing that has regulated it is keeping the infrared light and uth on 24/7 and keep a blanket over half of his tank. his sleeping spur averages around 82 degrees this way with a basking spot of about 88-92. is out a bad idea to leave the light always on or covering half of his tank? he is in a glass tank with a screen top and his humidity is always well monitored and regulated.

What are you using to measure temperatures?

Do you have a thermostat for your UTH? If not you need to get one ASAP. Without a thermostat UTH's can and will get up to 130+ degrees.

I should add that I have had him for two feeds and he ate well for both times, with cool and warm temperatures. he is about 4 months but very easy going

I have probe thermometers. two of them, one on each side. no thermostat yet but very closely monitor the uth throughout the day until I get one. the probe is right by where my snake lies

What is the air temperature in the room the cage is in?

not sure, 72-75 would be my guess. its in my bedroom. never have a fan running

My tank is 90 % covered with aluminum foil, to retain heat and humidity.

I don't have any heat lights, just 4 uth.

BP's don't like lights, they are nocturnal.

Everything he said and, Infrared lights can be used to add heat without disturbing day/night cycles of your ball. As could ceramic heat emitters but I would suggest learning how to set them up properly for your pet well before even considering purchasing one.
