How much holes in 15 qt tub? ( 1st Ball Python please help)
My first Ball Python is going to be arriving tomorrow and i have a 15 qt sterilite tub for it, the problem is... I don't know how many holes i should put in the tub for one 3 month old ball python.
If you could give me a number that'd be great.
    Thank you. :D

There is no exact number. It depends on your humidity levels where you are located. If it is dry, make less holes, if it is humid, more holes! Make sure to drill the holes in the side of the tub, not in the lid. You want to create air flow, but you also want to trap humidity.

Experiment with the number of holes. Try 5-10 on each side at first. Start with less and work your way up.

Try 5 on each side. With a small water bowl it keeps the humidity at 60%

Heat and humidity are breeding grounds for bacteria which can lead to respiratory issues. The holes are for airflow. What you are shooting for is good air exchange to help prevent the growth of bacteria. Start with few holes and run it until your heat and humidity level out and stay a constant. Then check the air flow by removing the water dish. What you want to see is the humidity in the tub drop to the same humidity the room is in under an hour. For a 15 qt tub I like to see it in 20 minutes or less but I'm happy if its under an hour for my 41 qt tubs. I had an issue with RI's a while back and poor air circulation seemed to be the cause. Another member explained this to me and once I got my air circulation corrected the battle was over in a jiffy. Until then I had vet visit after vet visit. Hope that helps and congrats on your new addition. Please post pics when you get it.
