    Housing a boa
I am thinking of getting a red tail boa and want to know how big of a enclouser it will need and what it will need in the enclouser?

Most people I know say for an average adult female redtail a 6'x2'x12" is the minimum. I know many that keep them in 4'x2'x12" though.

I keep 2 hides and a water bowl in my boa's enclosures. It is pretty basic.

I keep babies in a hatchling rack. What starts to get to small I switch them into cb-70 tubs. eventually they end up in larger enclosures.

One things for sure don't house it with a ball python!

Ok down to business. A hatchling can be kept in a 20 gallon tank or in a 28qt bin. Be aware tho, they do grow quite quickly. Ours went from 200g to 1300g in about a year. Ours is now in a 41qt bin and I'm going to guess that in another year she will need to be bumped up again. A 4' x 2' x 1' enclosure are good for 90% of adults unless you end up with a particularly large female. Hope this helps. Boas are awesome and I think all snake people need at least one!

It really depends on what kind of rtb you are getting. Bcc's get larger than bci's I wouldn't recommend anything smaller than 6'x2'x2' for an adult bcc male and would go bigger for a female if you can. Bci's tend to be smaller especially males. You could probably get away with a 4'x2'x2' for a male but really with boas I like to think bigger is better. They seem to enjoy roaming and will climb if given the chance.

They are amazing looking aren't they. I recently went to my local reptile store to get some rats for my balls and came home with my first boa. I have wanted one for awhile though. I think it was their head and size that I found fascinating.

I plan on putting my boa into a 6ft enclosure soon.

I just read that post. Yes. PLEASE keep all your snakes separate!

But I agree with the other posters! Everyone should have a boa in their life. I love my Dumeril (not a RTB but awesome all the same)!
