HOW do you tape the thermostat probe?

Everyone says it goes on the flexwatt, that much is clear. How do you put it there? If you taped it directly on, wouldn't that create a heat trap?

I have mine taped to where it rests on the flexwatt, but that seems to be too inaccurate.

My AP cages have a slot for the thermostat probe, so they don't require any tape to keep them in place, but my other cages do. I use hot glue to attach mine. I glue the cord coming out of the probe to the UTH and then put a small drop on the tip to keep it in place.

Avoid aluminum tape as it can interfere with the probes readings.

I can't deny your claim on the aluminum tape but I haven't had a problem so far... Can you explain a little more about the possible issues?

The aluminum tape can act like a heat sink, because of this the probe can be subjected to temperatures that are different than the actual temperature of the UTH

Yeah, I figured covering it would cause a sink. I like the hot glue idea, anyone have any other tips?

In situations that it is required, I tape mine down by the cord without covering the probe and I will use a small spot of glue on the probe to hold it down. I covered the probe with aluminum tape once when I didn't know better and I found out quickly it was a bad idea! It was turning the thermostat on and off several times a minute.

Any glue? Or, what specific glue do you recommend?

In a glass tank where do you tape the probe? Inside the tank above the UTH or under the tank above the UTH?

I just use plain old hot glue sticks from Target.

I actually use a coral glue for my reef aquarium. It is basically a really thick super glue. I accidentally ruined a hydrofarm t-stat with hot glue once. I think I used to much in that instance and overheated the probe, but I'm nervous about doing it again.
