The first rat is a double rex.

Thanks! I really thought that she was something cool or maybe sick. I still have no idea what a double rex actually is, I have searched here and googled it but not much info. Im going to try again later

Think of it like a pastel X pastel making 1/4 super pastels that when bred to a normal will make all pastels.

Rex X Rex makes 25% standard coat, 50% rex coat and 25% double rex.
Breeding a double rex to a standard coat will make 100% rex coats :)

But how can you tell the difference between a double rex and a true hairless? And which ones have the issues with birthing/feeding? Just curious, as I really like the rex coat... just not fond of rats without hair. And is there a combo that will NOT throw any hairless?

sorry op, don't mean to hijack your thread

There is almost always a clear distinction between double rex and true hairless. Eyelashes, are one way to tell, as well as whiskers, and double rexes almost always have fuzz. :)

Hairless rat females are the ones that sometimes cannot properly feed their babies,

There is no such thing as a pew with black eyes. A PEW is a pink eyed white. That would mean it doesn't have black eyes. :P
