Humidity

Once again another thread with a question.

I think lately I've been doing it all wrong.

I seen a video online where the person told the viewers to mist all around the floor or the tank then I just read a thread saying not to....

How should I mist the tank and where? Could you show me a video or some picture of where?

You want to raise the air humidity, not get the ground wet, so mist from a distance at the top or side of the cage, or really wherever. Just as long as the substrate and cage furniture aren't wet.

I spayed the substrate but not a lot just so it felt a little moist but an hour later i felt it and it didn't feel like i sprayed it is this good?

Any videos you could share? i don't want to have my snake get belly rot, I just went to go touch the ground and the snake stroked at me is that bad dose that mean i pissed it off?

No i saw from earlier that your snakes are going into shed and have cloudy eyes, thats why he struck at you. They dont like to be bothered while going into shed. And thats good if the ground isnt wet.

Thanks, I'll leave them alone and wont bother them for the next 3 or so days till I see that they have shed.

That's fine. As long as the ground isn't consistently wet you don't have to worry about belly rot.

And as has been said, if the snake is in shed that definitely explains the defensive behavior.

I spray my ball python's fake plants and his substrate :O
But that being said, it's not soaking wet, and within an hour it is dry but the air in the cage is still humid, as my humidity gauge says a constant 55%-60%
I raise it to around %70- %75 for shed.

Do you have a humidity gauge? I'd get one of those digital temperature and humidity readers if possible. They're about $20 each.

I have problems with humidity issues in my apartment (usually ~30% or so). I tried covering the screen top of my tank with foil and plastic, but found that covering about half of the top with a damp rag and moving my water dish over the UTH raised it to a constant 50% or so. Then, I can mist it when I feel like it and when shedding starts.

People will have different suggestions, but it worked well for me and caused me to not mist as often. Best of luck!

You are fortunate; humidity here is usually around 10%. Screen tops are simply not an option. :P But x2 on the damp towel thing, that's worked well for me in the past, just keep an eye out for mold and change the towel every few days.
