I've been in the reef hobby for about 4 years now and recently constructed this 4'x3'x8" DIY frag tank and thought I'd share.http://tapatalk.com/mu/6c6bff6e-82ce-9551.jpg

I'm totally guessing here....but I would guess that is a shallow tank used to grow small fragments of coral. When they get bigger, they probably get moved into deeper water with various environments.

EDIT: Forgot to add.... It's VERY cool! My daughter just left for college and is aiming to major in Marine Biology. I'd love to see more recent pics of that and your other stuff. Welcome to BP.net! :handshake

Okay thanks - that makes sense. :)

Excellent guess, except when they get bigger they get moved to other peoples homes and their $ gets moved to mine (its actually not very lucrative considering the overhead). I've got to admit that the BP hobby is proving just as addictive as my reefing habit that I JUST got under control lol.

Haha...yes, two very addictive hobbies! I'd be tempted by fish and reefs if I didn't move across the country every year or two.

Beautiful tank, I would be tempted, but my mom had one for years. Lots of work goes into those things and 1 minor mishap can destroy years of work. Lol, I need one of those signs for my BPs!

Awesome, reef tanks are really beautiful! Next summer I'm going to start a little 4ft Marine tank, I'm not sure if I'll go with Fish Only + Live Rock, or go the whole hog and start a reef tank. What I do know is I'll be raiding the local rock pools for the baby fish!
