BP in cold side

My 3month old BP has been in his cold hide for the past 2 days and has not come out to regulate his body, its 76-80F in there, im assuming he's just comfortable with it and doesnt feel the need to warm up but if thats not the reason why than can some one please tell me why he is doing this?

They're usually pretty good at self regulating, but it's possible he just doesn't feel safe in the other hide(if they're not identical). That's usually the biggest reason I can think of.

both hides i have are the exact same

They are pretty good at knowing what they need. I used to get worried too. My boa just ate a huuuge rat and went right to his cool side, you would think he would want heat to help digest. So ya just dont worry, as long as your temps are accurate, let him be.

Pretty much.

My female pastel did the same thing. Ate a rat, sat in her cool hide the next two days, then went to her warm hide. I got worried, posted, and got the same response.

oh? :/ well my bp hasnt eaten since the 30th of october, i bought him the day after so he's been in this new tank for about a week and a day.

I think of it as, if the snake can strike, constrict and ingest the food, they will be able to know how to digest it. I always see problems concerning not eating, not constricting, not being able to figure out which way to eat the prey. I dont think iv ever herd of any problems with a snake not digesting its food properly. Unless it was handled right after feeding, or prey still being cold/frozen, which would most likely be a regurg. I used to worry about all the small things with my snakes. Im kinda new to all this but since being a part of this website, iv learned soo much, by no way am i saying im an expert or know it all. All snakes dont act the same way, eat the same or poo the same way. When i feed my boa, he sometimes takes 1 hr or more to start eating, my bp's take 5 mins. Then sometimes the boa will start eating right away.

Thats still pretty new for him to get used to a new home. Takes them a few weeks to get used to the new surroundings. Or maybe he already feels secure but likes to be cool.

all of my ball python are mostly always in the cool side too just sometimes they go to the warm side.
