Wheezing noise help..

So here's the scenario...

A week ago I cleaned my BP's cage....The next day i noticed his eyes were blue and going into shed. The following day his eyes were back to normal and i offered him a rat pup. He took it with zero hesitation.

Now, 4 days after feeding and a week after 'going blue', he has yet to shed or pass anything through, for that matter. When handling him today, I heard him make a wheezing sound when breathing. Would this be related to him going into shed? Or , hopefully not, a Respritory Infection? Ive heard befor that sometimes they will wheez after shedding due to left over dead skin, but what about before?

And just to add temps are fine and humidity is about 60+, keping it high until he sheds.

also, I know they say not to feed during shed, so is it better to wait? Also given that he is looking like he needs to pass some solids?

I agree a vet is needed.

ok, before you go to a vet, give him time to shed. The skin inside the nostrils is shed as well and as it losens and dries it can create the same whistling sound you hear with an RI, let him shed first and if the sound doesn't clear up THEN its vet time.

I offer all my snakes food while in shed, some eat, some dont, and sometimes they do what they feel like. If you want to offer food, offer, if you don't then dont.

It can be related to the shed. The extra skin can cause the vent to whistle. Popping noises are a different story.

Thanks. It was definetly a whistling noise. Not on every breath, and varying in volume each time (if that is any help at all)

Like Cinderbird said, I wouldn't worry unless you still hear the whistling after the shed.

It's hard not to worry about the little creatures though.

Wait until after the shed. If you're worried, check his mouth for mucus.

This is true, sheds can cause whistling, what you want to look for is any fluid or bubbling in the mouth, that is a sure sign of an RI and a vet visit and culture of fluid would be needed. Bumping up temps to the mid 90's wouldnt hurt just in case it is the begining of an RI.

Well, he shed today. I was super happy.. and i held him for a bit n didnt hear any whistling... Hope Im in the clear, still gonna keep an eye out..Thanks All
