    Freezing rodents?
So, assuming you breed your own feeders (euthanize them) and then freeze them...what do you do?

I want to know how to keep rodents from leaking. I've seen a little about pre-freezing, etc. Is a regular freezer enough for preserving rodents? I've seen stuff about flash freezing, but a household chest freezer won't do that.

Give me all you know feeder-people! :)

I have what you would call a "small operation". :D I have five Corns and two BPs. I do raise my own rodents (both rats and mice), and I euthanize them on my own (with dry ice and a cooler). For freezing, I wrap them in a freezer storage bag (usually 1 gal. size), then place that in another freezer storage bag. I roll the bags closed to eliminate as much air as possible (because this causes freezer burn) and then place them in the door of my home freezer. This seems to work just fine for me. I'm not sure if larger operations would need something different, but just wanted to give my two cents worth. ;)

C02 bucket man. Gas em they die super quick and toss em in a zip lock squeeze as much air out and you will be fine. Or if you dont care about the look and if they are bloody or not just give em a thwack on the head and toss em in.

If you kill them and let them sit out for a few minutes, the bodies will relax and release that last poop and bit of urine. Clean that up and then freeze and you'll have nice clean feeders.

If you don't let them empty out prior to freezing and you pop them into the freezer immediately upon death, when you thaw them, you'll get both urine and poop.
