Head wound.
So my ball python has two wounds on her head. The top wound is larger and when she was young she burned her head on her heat lamp. It healed well and scarred over but something happened and it’s back and there’s another wound lower on her head as well. I have a cage over her heal lamp now so she can’t burn it again. I also cleaned out her cage and got rid of her substrate (it was orchid bark) and put paper towels until she heals up. I’m washing her wound and putting antibiotic ointment on it a few times a week too. I just want to know if I’m handling this right or if I should do something else.
Background info on her..
Mystic potion ball python
~2 year old female
eating medium frozen thawed rats every 14ish days.
Basking temp ~95 ambient temp ~ 85
humidity ~50-65
she has been eating well and she’s active. She never refuses food. She’s acting completely normal.

Switch to regulated belly heat. It is safer and ball pythons are not basking snakes anyway.
Honest, I only need one more ...

Easiest way to add pictures is to download the free TapaTalk app and use that as it has an easy photo upload option

Sure need photos, but just from reading this it sounds like she's been rubbing her head on the cage over the heat lamp, maybe trying to climb? So sad that she
has re-damaged the first wound that was already healed and now has another, ugh. Cage needs a "make-over"- I'm with JodanOrNoDan, I use UTH, and while
I supplement the heat for some of my snakes that require more heat from above, none of my cages have heat lights (or CHE) inside their enclosures, with or
without "safety cages".
