Red face Whatever he is, he's purdy

    Hey guys,

For probably the thousandth time you've heard this BUT...I'm new to BPs and I'm still learning all the genetics and different morphs. I got my first BP about a week ago. Originally, I wanted one of the banana or bee morphs. However, this little guy had such a good temperament the moment I picked him up that I decided that having a super docile, inquisitive snake was more important than getting the exact morph I wanted. I'm an online teacher and I have pretty big units on reptiles and other animals, so I wanted a nope rope who I could handle easily and who would show off a bit for my kids. I got him from a family-owned reptile store in town; unfortunately, they lost the guy who knew morphs like the back of his hand a few weeks back and the guy I work with is more into various lizards and venomous snakes.

His name is Sebastian. I've been told he's pastel, I've been told he's enchi. I've been told he's pastel and enchi. I even had someone else say he might have some vanilla in him (I don't see it. I don't know if he has enough blushing on his head, but he's only a yearling.). Any help would be awesome!

PS: He helped me teach in a few classes last night and he was fantastic. Very active and inquisitive. The kids loved it when he flicked his tongue at my webcam and though his scales (bc we were talking about how scales protect reptiles and help some move) were pretty.

definite Pastel, and the fairly reduced pattern and pixeling up the sides kinda looks like Enchi, but the headstamp isn't there. then again, i'm no expert.

also, WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!! he's gorgeous, whatever he may be.

EDIT: i do see a faint headstamp...probable Enchi.

Thanks guys! He is very pretty and very sweet. After our own research, we were thinking he was pastel enchi, but it's nice to hear that it wasn't just us. At some point a few years from now I may get into collecting and breeding, but until then I'm content to have Bast as my snake ambassador.

Pastel. Not sure what, if anything else as the color is coming through strangely.
Could you post a photo on a white background, in natural light, no filters or editing, no flash?
And i agree with hilabeans, Personality is definitely more important than looks unless your only intent is breeding.

this is a pretty reduced pattern for a Super Pastel, don't you think? not a lot of "eyes" in the alien heads. just wondering your opinion and checking how good my eyes are.

Im just seeing pastel, not the super form, nor enchi or anything else, but better photos would help.

I’m not seeing any Enchi either, but not 100% sure.

Re: Whatever he is, he's purdy

So here is another set of pictures on a white background. The first set didn't have flash or filters. Just the room he's in has really bright lighting because it's also my office/classroom. This just has natural light coming through the window. I did what I could with him. He is very inquisitive so as soon as I pick him up he wants to climb all over me and explore his environment. The only time he does a good little ball is when he's in one of his tank hides.

Btw, I don't care what he is. It's not like I'll be disappointed if he's not enchi. If he's just a pretty pastel, then he's just a pretty pastel. He still turns heads and whatever he is, he's purdy. I just want to be able to accurately describe his coloring when people ask because he is a "snake ambassador" for my students as someone put it. Maybe in a few years I'll consider hobby breeding; I can definitely see the appeal. But, for my first snake, I just wanted an outgoing, chill guy.
