    odd climbing habit/hangout

    Hey
Hey everyone, My 2/mo old ball has taken to climbing up on to this little catwalk at the top of his enclosure and hanging out there. at first i thought maybe it was a temperature thing and he was getting too cold so he wanted to get closer to the light, but his temps inside the enclosure are absolutely ideal, with a basking/hot side of 92 and a cool of 76-78. the light isn't heating anything up enough to cause burns on him, is it possible he just likes climbing and perching up here?

it could be a security issue (hides, clutter-related) or maybe things are running too warm and he's trying to escape. i'd turn the UTH down to 88-89° and see what happens, as the youngin's do better with a lower hot spot temp. also, try to keep ambient temps around 80°. this is kind of contradictory to what i just said, but your temps are just a taaaad bit off.

Ok cool, thanks. I had considered thatit was too warm for him, but i also should add he has no issue spending time in his hides on the ground for a significant amount of time either. Ill tweak the temps when i get home tonight

How is the decor in the enclosure? Do you have enough places to hide and crawl through? Could be trying to escape to find a secure hiding spot if there is not enough security inside the tank.

Also, what are you using to read temperature as well as humidity? You means of measurement could be off and like stated, could be a tad warm. Too warm often results in an agitated BP.

Could also just be a typical acrobatic noodle.

Also is that a UV bulb? Normally I would say it is useless for a BP but if you have a leucistic morph it could actually be not beneficial.

yep, could be husbandry. so double-check your temps, humidity, hides/security, etc. it doesn't look like u cover up any tank glass with paper or whatever.

so if husbandry is all good, he could just be trying to escape. since air is coming in through the mesh top, he might be up there thinking there's a way out. also they will climb if u give them the means to do so (grapevine, decorative decor, etc). my Elphie enjoyed climbing her lil tree until she outgrew it:

i think it's fine that they climb just as long as they return to the ground and hides by themselves when the time is right.

Edit: lol it's so fun to look back at my 1st tank setup. i improved it by adding clutter and covered the glass. she still liked to climb tho.

I actually have the tank cover customized with q clear plastic sheet that attaches over it to keep in humidity that i can unsnap to spray the enclosure and reattach. The catwalk does run up to a ventilation square though so he may see it as an escape. Ive got 2 probe thermometers, one foil taped to the UTH thermostat and the other taking ambient temps midway up the opposite side. I have an analog hygrometer a third of the way off the ground thats measuring a pretty steady 55 for humidity, which i take to a drier place every few days to make sure its not stuck there. Its not a UV bulb and hes an ivory, not leucistic or anything. As for hides and stuff i think hes got it pretty good without cluttering, ill try to upload a pic of his full enclosure momentarily Thank you everyone for the responses

    Heres the enclosure

From left to right: plants, warm side enclosure, water dish, small hide, medium hide, plants.

Its a tall enclosure but its only about 13 inches deep. He doesnt seems stressed any of the time, mostly just chills. Is usually relaxed and curious, eats, etc.
