Hey all, just want to make sure this is somewhat normal behaviour.

Today was Viago's feeding day and he passed a massive poop (his first with me since I got him september 17th) a few days before. Because he was so empty from the poop, he went after the f/t rat pup pretty wildly lol. It was actually great to see! Unfortunately, he bit it sideways, dropped it out, and started trying to rearrange himself. In the process, he gave me a huge scare when he slowly went up to the middle of his body and decided to bite. He didn't wound himself and I quickly picked the rat up with the tongs and gave him the head, which he took and he's now ingesting the rat as normal.

I'm thinking he bit at himself as his feeding response was so intense and he coiled very tight, that some of the rat 'juices' leaked onto him. Am I correct in thinking this is the case? I know snakes biting themselves can be signs of bigger neurological issues and I want to be sure it was simply a little mistake on his part.

He's been eating once a week on f/t rat pups regularly, had a semi-decent shed (had to put him in a humidity box to get his nose pieces off), and his temps and humidity are a-okay. Sits in his hides all day and generally seems to be doing fabulously.
