Black PVC Hides need opposite doors to be the same.

Ive chatted about my Female who has always preferred the cool side hide and I think i figured out why.
If she is in the Hot Hide (Right side of Enclosures) the hide door is closest to the front of the enclosure because all the doors are cut on the Left ... If she is in the Cool Hide the hide door is closest to the back wall of the enclosure. I noticed that when she is in the Hot Hide she watches 24/7 from inside the hide doorway out into the room... The cool hide doesn't allow that because of the direction of the door. This made me think, maybe she doesn't like being able to see all thats going on so she chooses the cool hide as its safer to her with its door closest to the back wall (no visible traffic). To test this i put a piece of construction paper over the right side slider (Hot Side) and ever since she has stayed in the Hot Hide. Its been 3 days and she comes out and climbs from 9pm until about 3am and now returns to the Hot Hide instead of the Cool. That proves to me some BP's will choose what they perceive as safety over temp which is why we all say we need identical hides however I never thought the door cut would matter. She has been in the cool hide for 6 months because of this i believe. What I need are RB type Hides that have a Left or Right cut door to choose from. This would allow both doors to be closest to the back wall. Identical positioning. If anyone else has a snake favoring the cool hide, see if this changes things as it was hard for me to believe she wanted to be 79° 24/7 365.
Here is a Pic from a forum member that shows what I mean perfectly. My enclosure is to long to show this same situation in a small picture.

i've definitely noticed this too, but my warm hide is the one farthest back.

when Yellow is hungry he sits in the cool side hide to watch me. whenever i get close and stare back at him he tucks inside, only to poke out again a bit later lol.

Lmbo, mine does the same.. I joke she looks like a Gopher.
The mold wouldn't be hard to change for the PVC Hides, wish they would make one with a right side door, I'm sure not going to move my RHP but maybe I'll put Limo tint on the Hot side for them so they don't see shadows ect..

Just turn the hide to have the back of it facing the glass doors - that should do the trick. I have those same hides but my snakes don't seem to mind where the heck the opening is. LOL

They have to be in a corner otherwise they push them all over...my enclosures have PVC pipes bolted in running from side to side in the front and front to back in the middle so my Large Hides only fit in the back corners otherwise your idea would work good if i put them against the front sliders. I guess until I can get someone to make Opposite side hide doors i'll just tint the glass out. Im glad i figured it out though, here we are going on 4 days of her wanting to be in the Hot Hide now that that side is blacked out.. Hahaha crazy.. You gotta be a mind reader with these guys. My Burm will eat, sleep and crap with a standing crowd!

My boy's the opposite, he always seems to favor the hide he can stick his head out of to watch me and my roommate's cats. Pretty much every time I come into the room, he's peeking his snoot out to see what's going on. He seems a lot happier in his takeout dishes then any other hide I've yet to devise, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear other BPs have similar preferences.

Re: Black PVC Hides need opposite doors to be the same.

I've been thinking this ever since I bought these hides. I for the life of me don't understand why they don't make them available with openings on either side. I can't imagine it would be that difficult or expensive. Have you considered cutting out an opening on the side you need and then using that piece to seal the original opening?
