Help! Burn(?) on my ball python's back?

I'm had my ball python for two or so months and he has a patchy spot on his back that wasn't there before. I've been trying to diagnose it but I'm not sure if it's a burn or some skin condition and I've had trouble locating pictures like it. He does have a heat lamp(above the terrarium) so maybe he managed to rest against the top for a long period of time? Nothing else is abnormal, no other spots and is eating normally, etc.

How close is the lamp to the top? Is it inside or outside of the enclosure? It looks to me like it could indeed be a burn from the lamp. Is it on a thermostat or dimmer?

Light is right on top of the terrarium(outside), set up how I read online. I'll definitely invest in a clamp stand after seeing this. No thermostat or dimmer. Is there anything I should be doing to treat this?

ALL sources of heat MUST be regulated!!! you can go to any home improvement store and pick up a lamp dimmer for around $15, or get a thermostat and regulate the temp with the probe.

i think i've read silver sulfadiazine cream is what you use for a burn. hopefully someone else can chime in on where to get it.

Silver sulfadiazine cream is correct. You can find tubes of it for pretty cheap online.

You're lucky it was just a small burn. A clamp stand could help, but really what would help the most is regulating it with either a thermostat (preferable) or a dimmer at the very least. Unregulated heat sources can be very dangerous. I don't know if there's anywhere local to buy silver sulfadiazine cream, but I know you can find it online and it does seem to be the most recommended treatment for burns on snakes.
