Need help cool side too cool
I have had my bp for almost a week he's in a zoo med 20 gallon mesh top glass tank his heat mat on hot side 90f but cool side is 70f to 72f I've tried heat lamp with and without stand at 100w 75w 50w 25w only on the hot side and it's just heating hot side not really changing ambient temperature much so the cold side is way too cold and with lamp hot side gets a bit too hot for my liking if any one can help much appreciated thanks

do you have the lamp placed over the hot side? it should be on the cold side. i'd also recommend a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) instead as bulbs deplete humidity and produce light that ball pythons would rather not be around.

Thanks I'll try it I was told not to put heat lamp on hot side and I will get a Che if the lamp works on cool side

you don't need both a CHE and bulbs; one or the other will do. personally i prefer CHE but it's up to you what you want to use.
place the lamp over the cold side and monitor the ambient temps; anything above like 77° is perfect.
also, welcome to the forum!!!

Re: Need help cool side too cool
See I want told to use the heat lamp or CHE on the hot side from that guy alex green from GoHerping. My cool side is around 73/77 75 now but at night drops to 72/73 but I use a blue heat lamp in the middle of the tank with a dimmer which gets my cool side to the 75/77 degree temp.

it all depends on your own environment. that's why doing research and knowing proper husbandry is so important, so you can tweak your setup to something that works for the snake AND works for you as well.

Re: Need help cool side too cool
Yeah I found out, the way I have it now works best since where I live my roommates keep the apartment cold like 68 degrees inside. Using the extra heat lamp helps out with the cool side temp especially since it's a 40 gallon breeder tank.

Re: Need help cool side too cool
I had the same problem. Now my heat lamp is in the middle with cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil covering the ends of the cage. Now the hot side is 90 and the cool side is 80. Good luck!
