Honeybee trashing tank

Hey, just wondering if anyone else experienced this. My 3 year old Honeybee male (1330grams) had just finished shedding this morning. I went in his tank to remove the shed and clean a little. No problems, put him in a small holding cage. He was fine. Put him back in (all I did was remove the shed, and checked for waste). I place him back in the tank, all good. A few minutes go by, and I hear him trashing his tank. I went to remove him (he seemed ready to strike) came out no problems. Placed him back in a little holding tank, he got a little wild and calmed down. He appeared to possibly pee when he was spasming out? There was definitely some sort of urates that came out of him when he was going crazy. The only other time he gets remotely excited is if I place him in a different tank, and I believe can smell the other male that was in there last. This is the first time I ever seen a snake get like this that wasn't in some sort of distress. Husbandry was already triple checked. Thanks in advance.

Did you use anything out of the ordinary to clean, different cleaner, place him back sooner than you used to.?

Thank you for the quick reply. And no Deborah, that's what's confusing me. He's always been a little "off". But I never seen him this excited. He's usally fine. I thought it might have to do with wanting to mate? He's all chilled in his hide now. And he only did it for 45 seconds or so.I gave him a once over, no problems. He likes to arch his back every once in a while and pins and flips his hide. But that's only every so often.

Is he possibly in breeding mode? Maybe it was a sperm plug that came out? I have heard that the male snakes can get a little excited around certain times of year...

I have 5 males, this is the first time I ever seen this, I was hoping that this was some kind of breeding behavior. I kept boas for years only remember something similar once, but that was 20 plus years ago. Damn I'm old. Lol

Did his movements look something like this? It could be some courtship behaviour, even though there was no female about.

Edit: Although after reading more, some people are suggesting thrashing about like that can also be territorial/fighting behaviour, so perhaps he felt the need to re-establish it was his home after being out for a while.

This interests me huge now. I had the same kind of behavior with a male that just unlocked from a female yesterday. We are in the same geographic area also. I'm in the burbs. Could this have something to do with the high winds and storms last night. Mine started doing this just a bit before 9 last night. He was like throwing his body all over the place. It was really weird and I've never seen one do this before.

Yeah he had his bachelor pad all perfumed like him and ready to woo the ladies should any show up and then you went and cleaned it. How dare!

This interests me huge now. I had the same kind of behavior with a male that just unlocked from a female yesterday. We are in the same geographic area also. I'm in the burbs. Could this have something to do with the high winds and storms last night. Mine started doing this just a bit before 9 last night. He was like throwing his body all over the place. It was really weird and I've never seen one do this before.

Hey thanks for the response. Yeah I'm over by Schaumburg. The weather is awful. I rely on keeping the house at 73 to 74. I have the heat on in the morning and by afternoon I gotta turn on the a.c. I've had them all stop eating in the last month or so (except for one new guy). My Honeybee broke out of his fast about 10 days ago, ate and went into shed. I seen him act up if he's put into another tank that was holding a different snake, I always suspected it was because he could smell the other one that was previously in there. But yeah, never seen him like this crazy before. He also released some bodily fluids, my daughter commented they were "musky". I unfortunately have a cold, but she knows first hand about being "musked", lol. It only lasted a short while before I went in and grabbed him.
