    LED setup in a AP-T12

Since I bought my Animal Plastics T12 used, I didn't have a choice of adding any lights to it so when I went to Lowes for foil tape, I decided to splurge and get a LED accent lighting system to light my split T12.

The unit is a little bit expensive ($50 bucks), but I think it's worth it. It comes with 4 9" lightbars which connects to a 6 port hub (with an option to connect two more lightbars) which is then connected to a controller from which you can change the color of the LEDs. The only bad thing is that you can't change the lighbars individually. Since one power supply controls all 4 lightbars, you can just plug in one timer to control all of them.

The LEDs don't produce any heat at all. I know a couple of you have been looking for something like this so I decided to share. If you guys have any questions about it, please ask. Also, what do you think?

    Here are some photos:

Looks good. Did you have AP to cut out a hole for the power cord? If so, how did you fill it to prevent your snake from escaping?

I have four T8 cages and I love them. I bought the light fixture through AP and I kind of wish I didn't. I like the idea of using LED - saves electricity and I think they are brighter/looks better than fluorescent.

What I ended up doing was taking the top part of the PVC terrarium off and made my own U shaped hole. I used a drill to make two holes and then used a knife to straighten it out. It's not very pretty but no one will see it and that way there's not a big hole on top of the terrarium.

These lights are definitely bright. Since snakes don't see the color red, you can switch the color to enjoy night watching.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I feel like the LED lights add that fancy factor to the terrarium. Lol.

    awesome

thats exactly why i like LEDs: they are small, and they dont produce any heat and are extremely energy efficient.

another thing that hasnt been mentioned: its extremely rare for a LED to break. i mean, if you have some 30 year old device that has LEDs in it, and its still working, chances are that every single LED in it is also still working. light bulbs and fluorescents break and need to be replaced.

Time Dilation is real, it is so real that all clocks if they are precise enough can measure it, and GPS could not possibly work without it.

Similarly, I used a kit like this when I set up my T8 last month.

    http://amzn.com/B006JUW77Y

It's really low profile, and produces LOTS of light. It's also operated by remote, so I can use a red light as a night light, and turn it off once I'm snug in my bed.

I have been thinking about the same kit since I saw it while looking for lighting for a custom enclosure I am building. I got the 24 inch white led bar that in my lowes is in the same section for daytime use. I do not have a night light yet and was thinking about the accent lighting system or the arcadia moonlight LED....

Personally, it's a good kit. The reason I like the accent kit, is you can use it for both day and night lighting.
